The long way into data
My path started with a mechanical engineering degree from IIT Ropar in India, followed by two years in automotive manufacturing at Tata Motors.
I then completed a master's in aerospace engineering at the University of Toronto. When engineering work in Canada didn't pan out the way I'd hoped, I spent time in different roles before becoming a certified Registered Energy Advisor — walking through hundreds of homes with a blower door, a thermal camera, and a clipboard full of measurements.
Every audit ended with a spreadsheet: air leakage rates, heat loss coefficients, estimated savings by upgrade path. I was doing data work long before I called it that.
Now I'm making that transition explicit — learning Python, SQL, and statistical analysis, and applying data thinking to the energy sector I already understand deeply.
My edge isn't just technical skill. It's knowing what the numbers mean before the model runs, and knowing which questions are worth asking in the first place.
